Translation

I would love to work with you on translating your film, literary work, or artistic project. Projects from independent and underrepresented filmmakers and creators are especially welcome.

As a translator, I focus on Japanese to English/Spanish and Spanish to English audiovisual subtitle translation and literary translation. While I generally work with Japanese, Spanish, and English, I also speak Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, and Tetun, and will consider projects in these languages on a case-by-case basis.

Art across Cultures

With my proficiency in seven languages and my time living in the United States, México, India, Timor-Leste, the United Kingdom, and St. Croix (U.S.V.I.) I excel at bringing a keen cultural awareness to my translations - ensuring that the soul of your story shines as brightly in another language as the words.

Beyond my professional training at the Japan Visualmedia Translation Academy (日本映像翻訳アカデミー), I also concentrated on translation as part of my undergraduate degree in comparative literature, and have translated a number of literary pieces from Marathi to English.

Film Festival? No Fear!

I also work with independent filmmakers to navigate the process of submitting their films to festivals - from identifying best-fit festivals to navigating the submissions process.

Writing and Research

As a human rights writer and researcher, I use both quantitative and qualitative data to create nuanced, compelling portraits of pressing human rights issues in Latin America and Asia. Beyond my full-time position at Fundasaun Mahein in Dili, Timor-Leste, I have also contributed reports to Nomad Consulting.

I am also passionate about long-form journalism, narrative nonfiction, and fiction.
